WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?
AND HOW AND WHAT DOES IT HELP ?
Reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China, but was not introduced to the West until the early 1900's as Zone Therapy. In the 1930's it was developed further by Eunice Ingham, to become the reflexology we know (and love) today.
The theory is that every organ, gland and part of the body is mapped onto the feet. By using various pressure techniques these 'reflexes' can be stimulated, aiming to bring those areas back into balance, and therefore aiding the body to work as well as it can.
Reflexology is a therapy open to all, from young babies to the elderly. Occasionally there are times when it is not suitable, but I can advise on those.
What to expect
I will give you a full consultation, where we will discuss your health and lifestyle to make sure reflexology is for you.You will be required to remove your shoes and socks and be able to move your trousers up the calves. You can then choose to use my reclining chair or a suitable chair of your own. Your feet will be cleansed and then you just relax, whilst I apply pressure and massage your feet.

PREGNANCY AND POST NATAL CARE
Pregnancy, is one of the most exciting times, but it can make you anxious, and also the physical changes come with some aches and pains, so once in your 2nd trimester, reflexology as a complementary therapy, may help rebalance and relax you.
After 37 weeks I can help you on your journey to motherhood, by helping your body get ready for a natural birth.
Postnatal care shouldn't be forgotten. Reflexology has its place here too, to help relax, heal and rebalance those all important hormones.

REFLEXOLOGY LYMPH DRAINAGE
RLD is an award winning reflexology technique which focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet.
The aim is to cause an effect on the lymphatic system in the body. It is a unique sequence that has been researched and developed by Sally Kay, whilst working in cancer care.

Lymphoedema is defined as tissue swelling due to the failure of lymph drainage.

After breast cancer, approximately 20% of patients develop secondary lymphoedema of the arm following treatment for breast cancer. A person may experience emotional difficulties due to altered body image and a swollen limb can exacerbate this.

Primary Lymphoedema, is often congenital, it can start at any age, from infancy, triggered by puberty or not even showing until later life, and often presents itself in the lower limbs

Secondary Lympoedema, affects both men and women, and is most common in the upper limbs after breast cancer treatment, usually occurring in the arm on the side of the treatment.

RLD is a gentle reflexology technique which is designed to mirror the techniques and effects of Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage (MLD) by applying pressure to the reflexes of the feet or hands.

RLD can also be used to aid other conditions including:
-
Chronic Fatigue
-
ME
-
Fibromyalgia
-
Arthritis
-
Pregnancy and premenstrual fluid retention
-
Eczema

ABOUT JENNY

I am a fully qualified and insured reflexologist and a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT).
I started to take an interest in complementary therapies, after a family bereavement, and had many positive experiences with reflexology, which led me to train as a reflexologist in 2001.
With my family now growing up I have found reflexology is a bigger part of my life again and I am enjoying bringing this wonderful therapy to others in my capacity as a mobile reflexologist.
I enjoyed the benefits that reflexology gave me whilst pregnant, and afterwards, so I was keen to explore this further, I have recently qualified in pre-conception, pregnancy and post natal reflexology at The London School of Reflexology under Louise Keet.

I have extended my knowledge recently to include RLD, which is a form of lymphatic drainage, purely done through reflexology, I have trained with Sally Kay the amazing lady that founded this treatment, have a look at the treatment section to find out more!

I have also trained to treat people who currently have cancer, with Butterfly Touch Cancer Care for Reflexology

You can read more about me in my blog
Thank you for visiting my website, and I really hope I can share with you the wonderful, relaxing, rebalancing therapy of reflexology very soon.
